OUR MINISTRIES

 

New Pro is comprised of several ministries all working towards fulfilling the church's mission: "Our Mission is the Great Commission." (Matt. 19: 29-30)  

 

 

Ministry Staff

There are currenty 6 associate ministers, two of which are ordained.

  • Rev. Paul D. Worthington, assist. pastor 

  • Rev. Evelyn J. Clarke, youth pastor, dir. Christian Education

  • Min. Dennis E. Washington, music minister

  • Min. Rita Worthington, coordinator, Family Services Ministry

  • Min. Coleman E. Briggs, dir. Tribes Ministry

  • Min. Teresa T. Washington, dir. Read & Write program

Deacon Ministry

The Deacon Ministry is comprised of women and men selected by the pastor because they displayed consistency in Christian Education attendance and a willingness to serve. They are charged with visiting the sick and shut-ins and serving the the Lord's Supper. Each deacon has been assigned a tribe based on the member's month of birth. They are supposed to meet their tribe members' immediate spiritual and emotional needs and are the conduits between people and pastor.    

 

 

 
Christian Education

New Pro offers several Christian Education opportunities. These include:

  • Sunday School ~ Age appropriate classes. (9:45 - 10:30 am)

  • Bible Study ~ Book-by-book study of the Bible. (Wed. 6:00-7:00 pm)

  • Lunch-Dinner Bible Study ~ Study of selected Church doctrines and issues. (Wed. 12:00-1:00 pm; Thu. 7:00-8:00 pm)

Other New Pro Ministries
 
  • Trustees: Accountable for the church's financial and fuduciary responsibilities.

  • Ushers:  Ensure services are conducted in decency and in order.

  • Greeters :  Welcome guests and members to the New Pro experience.

  • Music :  Charged with providing choir and instrumental music for worship services. Music Ministry members must regularly attend some Christian Education offering.

  • Outreach Ministries:   These include:

     * Jail Ministries

    * Street Ministries

     * Summer Street Fairs and Back-to-School Handouts

  • Family Services:  Provide legal assistance for New Pro members.

  • Women of Faith:  Women's study fellowship that feature monthly home meetings, annual seminars and retreats.

  • Fishers of Men: Men's discussion and mentorship fellowship that regularly participates in recreational activities with church's young men. 

  • Young Adults:  Open to members ages 18 - 30 who organize events aimed at engaging their peers.

  • Youth: Responsible for providing spiritual, educational and recreational programs for church youth.

  • Community Affairs: Laision between church and community's political, social and cultural activities. 

  • Elders: Church's seasoned saints consult with pastor on matters of church decorum and policy.

  • Healing Communities: Charged with maintaining a culture that makes the church receptive to returning citizens upon their release from incarceration.
